Student Travel
The Northern Illinois University International Travel Policy requires that all Undergraduates enter their international travel plans in the NIU Registry, unless traveling on an approved Study Abroad Program. Undergraduates are prohibited from traveling to destinations that are classified by the U.S Department of State as having a level 3 or 4 Travel Advisory, unless they successfully petition for a waiver of the restriction per the deadlines noted below.

Programs, Organizations, Departments, Institutes and Schools should ensure students are in compliance with the travel policy prior to granting travel funds or allowing travel.
Petition deadlines:
For Spring semester travel October 1, the year prior to travel
For Summer travel January 1
